6500 Sizer HMI

The new Lektro Tek 6500 HUman Machine Interface (HMI) by Talon Robotics is a modern Windows based user interface on an industrial touchscreen panel PC. The new interface replaces the now obsolete video board, CRT monitor and proprietary keyboard.

The legacy components have become increasingly hard to source and are prohibitively expensive in comparison to modern hardware.

Migrating to a Windows platform has many advantages, including remote diagnostics (internet connection required), data collection, integrated keyboard, wireless network access, printing and file storage. In addition to the benefits listed above, the HMI can be loaded on any Windows computer (serial port required) and commuicate seamlessly with the 6500 sizer.

Advantages

1. Remote Diagnostics: Windows remote terminal services has become the standard for remote access across the internet. By utilizing a Windows platform, the new HMI allows convenient access to Talon Robotics support to quickly diagnose problems with the 6500 Sizer which may negate the need for a costly site visit.

2. Data Colection:As an Upgrade feature, data collection is available which downloads the sizer information into a comma seperated file for ease of analysis. Data collection is typically used for research purposes.

3. Integrated Keyboard: The touchscreen panel PC inetragtes an on-screen keyboard that is similar in layout to the legacy 6500 Sizer proprietary keyboard making it familiar to current operators. It was necessary to integrate an opn-screen keyboard into the HMI as many of the electronic compnents which comprise the legacy keyboard are no longer available.

4. Wireless Network Access: The wireless network capabilities of teh 6500 HMI allows for easier installation. The HMI can be located anywhere a WI-FI signal is available and still take advantage of its remote features.

5. Printing and File Storage: By migrating to a Windows based platform, many familiar features from modern computing including printing and file storage now become possible.

A cup sizer from a mechanical perspective provides a convenient way to label potatoes. Talon Robotics has provided an electronic interface that can be used to communicate between the 6500 Sizer CPU and a bank of labellers.
